Fermentation offers various advantages and dates back to ancient Geisha times. Within Tozaime fermentation achieves three core effects:

During the metabolic fermentation process carbohydrates are broken down and transformed into new enzymes, antioxidants and amino acids. These freshly emerged, skin-benefitting substances can not (or just very hardly) be created synthetically in a laboratory. Fermentation also works to increase the nutrient density by breaking down their molecular structure, making the product’s natural ingredients more powerful. The good bacteria, which are added to the plants during the process, prevent the actives also from oxidation, preserving their efficacy for a very long period.

Though being sustainably grown and harvested, some natural raw ingredients may still contain traces of environmental pollution substances or pesticide residues. These may irritate the skin as well as some allergens naturally contained in plant extracts.

The fermentation process neutralizes these harmful substances, resulting in a safer and more effective product, suitable for sensitive skin types. In addition, fermentation using yeast can lead to the creation of special substances that prevent the generation of harmful microorganisms, further reducing causes of skin damage.

Usually, the skin is a protection barrier- and cannot so easily absorb actives contained in (natural) plants. The molecular size of these actives is just too big to fully develop their potential within the skin. Through fermentation, molecules are broken down and skin cells are finally able to consume the skin-benefiting ingredients.
